OFFLINE TEXT · PHOTO RECOGNITION · LOCAL PROCESSING

Thai translation on your device, ready before you go.

QUICK ANSWER

Can I translate Thai text and photos offline?

Yes. An eligible GoThai Pro account can download the optional English–Thai pack for text translation in both directions and photo text recognition. Enable Offline mode in the text or photo tool you are using. Its translation inputs are processed locally rather than uploaded to GoThai or Azure.

Prepare the pack while connected

  1. Use the actual browser and device you will take with you.
  2. Sign in with an eligible Pro account and open You → Offline translator.
  3. Allow enough storage and wait for the pack download to finish.
  4. Open text or photo translation and enable that tool’s Offline mode.
  5. Test both a short text and a readable photo with the network disabled.

Downloaded course audio is a separate resource. Installing the PWA on your home screen also does not install the translation pack. Check the download again after clearing site data or browser storage changes.

What stays local and what uses a connection?

GoThai offline translation and related services
TaskWhat happens
Typed translationThe downloaded engine processes Thai or English text in the browser.
Photo translationText recognition and translation use the downloaded browser resources.
Downloads and account servicesPack downloads, sign-in, membership checks and synchronization use a connection when available.
Online speech and website analyticsThese remain separate network services. Choosing Offline for translation does not disable every website connection.
Saved wording and exported imagesSaved translations remain in this browser; exported pictures are saved where you choose on your device.

How does offline translation help protect privacy?

It reduces disclosure of translation content: the text, photo, recognized wording, and local translation result stay on the device for processing. You can choose local processing even while the device is online. If the offline engine fails or its pack is missing, GoThai does not automatically upload the translation to the online service.

Anyone with access to the browser profile may be able to read saved local translations. Signing out leaves them on that device. See the offline privacy guide and privacy policy for the scope of these protections.

What can I translate on a trip?

Use text translation for a short message or reply. Use the photo translator for readable text in a menu, road sign, or shop notice.

Will online and offline results be the same?

They use different engines, so wording and recognition can differ. Keep inputs short and check names, numbers, and context against the original. Test the offline tool before you depend on it during travel; device capability, available storage, and the quality of an image affect the experience.
