Privacy Policy

GoThai helps you learn practical Thai and translate between English and Thai. This policy covers gothai.cc and its installable web app. “GoThai,” “we,” and “us” refer to the operator of this service, whom you can contact at support@gothai.cc.

1. Accounts and learning

Starting as a guest creates a guest identifier and server session so we can save your progress. Email sign-in uses your email address and a one-time verification code. If you choose Sign in with Apple, we receive an account identifier and the name or email Apple makes available, which may be a private relay address. Available sign-in methods are shown in the app.

We store account details, learning preferences, course bookmarks, lesson and activity progress, review schedules, XP, streaks, learning time, and travel checklist selections to provide and synchronize learning. Signing in may merge your guest progress into your account. Guest learning also uses our servers; it is not anonymous, device-only storage.

2. Text and photo translation

Our translation endpoints do not store submitted text, uploaded photos, recognized text, or translation results in GoThai’s database or object storage. Photos and rendered images remain in browser memory during the photo session unless you export them. Online providers process submissions under their applicable terms; third-party processing may involve temporary retention.

Submit only content you are entitled to process. Avoid including identity documents, payment details, private conversations, or other sensitive information unnecessary for translation.

3. Camera, microphone, and speech

Camera and microphone access require browser permission. The camera provides a preview; a photo is submitted for online processing when you choose to translate it. Speaking practice records the short sample you initiate and sends it to Azure Speech for recognition. Dynamic Thai text-to-speech sends the requested text to Azure Speech. GoThai does not store these recordings or speech transcripts in its database or object storage.

Playback may instead use prerecorded lesson audio or your browser/device’s speech service. A browser voice may use its provider’s online processing. You can decline or revoke camera and microphone permissions in browser settings and continue using other learning features.

4. Payments and subscriptions

Creem is merchant of record for purchases through its checkout. You enter payment and billing information with Creem and its payment providers. GoThai does not receive or store full card numbers or card security codes.

We send the selected product, account reference, and, when available, your email to create checkout. We retain customer, checkout, and subscription identifiers, product and subscription status, billing-period dates, and payment-event records to deliver membership, prevent duplicate processing, and assist with billing issues.

5. Technical data, cookies, and device storage

Our hosting and security services process request information such as IP address, browser information, request time, and errors. GoThai uses usage counters, request identifiers, and keyed hashes of email or IP-related identifiers to protect sign-in, prevent abuse, and manage translation allowances. Operational logs may contain request metadata and error categories. Our translation and speech handlers do not intentionally log submitted content or recordings.

A necessary session cookie keeps you signed in for up to 30 days; short-lived provider sign-in cookies last up to 10 minutes. Browser storage holds preferences, local learning caches, pending purchase intent, and downloaded app, audio, and translation resources. GoThai currently has no advertising trackers or third-party marketing analytics integrated into the app. Hosting services still process operational and security information.

6. Service providers and sharing

We share information as needed for requested features, support, legal obligations, protection of users and the service, or a lawful business transfer with appropriate safeguards. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Providers may process information outside your country; where required, applicable transfer safeguards must accompany those transfers.

7. Purposes and legal bases

We process information to deliver requested features, synchronize learning, authenticate accounts, administer subscriptions, answer support, and protect the service. Where a legal basis is required, we rely on contract performance for requested services, legitimate interests for proportionate security and operation, legal obligations for required records, and consent where required for optional processing. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier lawful processing.

8. Retention and security

We keep account and learning records while needed to provide your account and handle your requests. Sign-in codes expire after 10 minutes; expired challenges and older authentication anti-abuse records are cleaned up during subsequent authentication activity. Expiration of a cookie or code does not itself delete every associated database record. Billing, security, and support records may be retained longer for legal obligations, fraud prevention, or disputes.

We use access controls, protected sessions, and encrypted network connections; no system is completely secure. Saved translations and device caches remain until removed by you, the app, or the browser. Signing out does not remove all downloaded files. You can remove packs in the app and clear site data in browser settings; clearing site data may remove unsynchronized progress.

9. Your choices and privacy requests

In the app you can change learning preferences, remove saved vocabulary, manage downloads, and sign out. For account deletion, a copy of your information, correction, or other privacy requests, email support@gothai.cc, preferably from your account email. For a guest account, contact us while you still have access to the browser used for learning so we can help identify the relevant records. We cannot recover saved translations from our servers because they are stored only on your device. We may verify your identity; never send passwords, sign-in codes, or full card details.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to processing, withdraw consent, and complain to a local data-protection authority. We respond within the applicable legal deadlines. Some records may be kept where permitted or required by law. Account deletion does not automatically cancel a subscription: cancel renewal in the membership portal or contact us for help. Creem may independently retain legally required purchase records.

10. Children

GoThai is not directed to children under 13, or a higher minimum age required by local law. If you believe a child has provided information without appropriate authorization, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

11. Updates and contact

We update the date on this page when this policy changes and provide additional notice of material changes where required. For privacy, product, and billing assistance, email support@gothai.cc. We aim to respond to support requests within three business days.
