Translate Thai Shop Signs, Storefronts and Notices

QUICK ANSWER

Can I translate a Thai shop sign or storefront notice?

Yes. Open GoThai’s photo translator, select Thai to English, and take or upload a readable image of the notice. Compare the recognized text with the original, especially names, numbers, hours, and dates. If the lettering is unclear, retake a closer image or type the wording you can read.

Decide which part of the storefront you need

Start with one task: identify the shop, read opening hours, understand a notice, or check a condition next to a price. Photograph that part with enough surrounding text to keep the meaning clear. A brand name alone may tell you little about a notice displayed below it.

For hours or a dated notice, keep the day, time, date, and any small qualifying words together. Avoid cropping out the line that explains when a condition applies. Photograph through glass from an angle that reduces reflections while keeping the lettering readable.

Translate the photo and inspect the recognized words

  1. Open GoThai’s photo translator.
  2. Select Thai as the source and English as the target.
  3. Take or upload the image, choose the translation mode, and submit.
  4. Compare the translation overlay with the original picture.
  5. Open Read text when you need to inspect the recognized source or a result shortened in the overlay.

Decorative shop lettering can be harder to recognize than a plainly printed notice. If the output is unrelated to the sign, retake a closer picture or translate a smaller section. When the wording can be copied, use text translation instead.

Check names, numbers, and conditions separately

Compare each amount, time, and date with the original image. Check whether the statement applies to a particular item, day, branch, or service. A translated word beside a number does not establish that it is the current price or the shop’s normal opening schedule.

A shop name may be transliterated or translated differently from its map listing. When finding a meeting point or collecting an order, use the branch, address, and map pin supplied by the business alongside the translation.

If an important condition remains unclear, show the original notice to staff and ask one short question. The food ordering guide uses the same approach for menu choices: identify the original item, make one request, and check the reply.

Keep a useful result for later

Use the photo tool’s export option to save the translated picture to your device. Check the saved image before leaving the page. A text translation you explicitly save is stored separately in Review on that browser; it does not follow your account to another device. See saved translations for the distinction.

Choose local processing when you need it

The optional downloaded Pro pack supports local text recognition and translation. Enable Offline in the photo tool before submitting. This keeps the image and recognized wording on your device for processing, even if you still have a connection.

Prepare and test the pack before your outing using the offline translator overview. For a menu rather than a storefront notice, follow the menu photo guide to keep dish names and prices aligned.
