GOTHAI QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

A few things you might be wondering.

Learn how GoThai’s Thai courses, translator, downloads, and account features work before you start.

What is GoThai?

GoThai is a web app for learning practical Thai through English. It includes 39 units and 272 lessons for travel, work, and everyday life, with listening and speaking activities, daily reviews, and English–Thai text and photo translation.

Can I learn Thai for free with GoThai?

Yes. The first three units—First conversations, Sounds & listening, and Numbers & prices—are free to study. You can browse the complete catalog. GoThai Pro unlocks every course unit, offline translator downloads, and more online translations. Current subscription options are shown in the app.

Is GoThai suitable for beginners?

GoThai starts with greetings, listening, numbers, and practical everyday conversations. Lessons use English explanations, Thai script, pronunciation guides, and audio. Start with the three free essentials units, then choose travel, work, or everyday topics that match your plans.

Which languages does the translator support?

GoThai translates between English and Thai in both directions. You can type text or translate text from a photo, such as a menu or sign. Online text translation accepts up to 240 characters per request. Machine translation can make mistakes, especially with names, ambiguous text, or difficult images.

Does GoThai translation work offline?

Yes, after an eligible GoThai Pro account downloads the optional offline pack and you enable Offline mode. The downloaded pack supports English–Thai text translation and photo text recognition in the browser. Download it while connected, allow enough device storage, and check its availability before traveling. Device storage eviction can remove downloaded resources.

Can I use downloaded course audio offline?

GoThai supports downloading unit audio for offline playback. Download the units you need while connected. Offline translation is a separate optional pack. Signing in, syncing progress, downloading resources, and online speech features still need a connection; a downloaded audio unit does not make every feature available offline.

Are saved translations synced to my account?

No. Saved machine translations stay in this browser on this device, including after sign-out. They are not uploaded to your GoThai account and cannot be recovered from the account after browser data is cleared. Course bookmarks and learning progress use account synchronization separately.

How does Thai photo translation work?

Open Translate, choose Translate a photo, then take or upload a picture. GoThai recognizes English or Thai text and displays the translation over the image. Online mode uses Microsoft Azure processing; Offline mode uses the downloaded browser pack. You can also read the extracted text and export a translated image.

Do I need to install an app to use GoThai?

No. GoThai runs at gothai.cc in a modern browser. You can also add its installable web app to your home screen from a supported browser. Offline features require the relevant resources to be downloaded and retained on your device.

Can I keep my learning progress across devices?

Sign in to synchronize course progress and course bookmarks between devices. Saved machine translations and downloaded resources remain local to each browser or device. Download audio and the optional translator pack separately on each device where you need them.
